Hello and Welcome to My Website!
Allow me to begin by introducing myself. My name is Mark Richards and I am a licensed massage therapist here in the Fort Lauderdale area. I graduated from the Florida College of Natural Health with a degree in Therapeutic Massage Therapy back in February of 2001. Since then, I have continued my education in such varied modalities as Thai Massage, Sports Massage, Reflexology and Trigger Point Therapy. The integration of these techniques has allowed me to develop a unique blend of therapies, which have successfully helped me to help many of my clients achieve their specific massage care needs. Using strong hands and an intuitive touch, I have been able to deliver my clients results they can trust. Recently, I have opened my own private studio in Wilton Manors, in the shopping district off Wilton Drive.
How Did I Get Here?
I first became interested in massage back in 1998. A car accident left me with some soft tissue injuries and whiplash, which caused me quite a bit of pain and a lot of sleepless nights. It didn't help that I was a Credit & Collections Manager and was constantly dealing with stress, tension and long hours in my job. So I sought chiropractic and massage care to aid in the recovery of my injuries. In less than 8 months, I was as good as new and began seriously thinking of returning to school to learn therapeutic massage.
Where I Am Today
My current client base keeps me on the move. And each month I continue to add new clients. I am still continuing to learn new techniques to better assist my clients in stress reduction, pain management and improving their general health. In 2002, I began working with AIDS patients through the Medicaid Project AIDS Care program. And, even though my business has kept me quite busy, my ultimate goal is to someday continue my education to receive a doctorate in Naturopathy.
New in 2009
After celebrating eight years in the massage business, I am continuing to add new facets to my practice. So far this year, I have completed Reiki Level One training and have begun incorporating this fantastic modality in my practice. I plan to complete the next level of Reiki training, though I haven’t decided if I would like to continue on to Reiki Master at this time. If you haven’t tried Reiki, I urge you to give this energy work a try.
Because I offer so many diverse types of massage, there is something for everyone. So, whether your reason for massage is for pain management, health maintenance or relaxation, I have a specialized massage to fit your needs.
Also, due to the increasingly bad economy, I want my current (and future) clients to know that I will continue to make a concerted effort to keep my rates reasonable without sacrificing the integrity of the massage. Currently, I have not increased my rates since August of 2007 and I have no intentions to any time soon. Be sure to check out any specials or packages I may offer throughout the year.
A Word of Thanks
Thanks to the wonderful support of my clients, friends and family, I have been able to establish a thriving business that has given me the opportunity to help others. But, over the years, I have learned that massage is much more than a business. Massage Therapy has allowed me to connect with others on so many levels. It is a great feeling knowing that the work that I do helps so many people in so many ways. Namaste, which translates to mean, “I bow to you”. It is used in India as an acknowledgement of one soul to another soul. Namaste.
